A new batch of supposed GTA VI gameplay videos is circulating online, but there are still plenty of reasons to be cautious about what they actually show.
Some of the clips are being described as footage from a 2023 build, reportedly based on file metadata. However, one video allegedly includes a Tate McRae song that was not released until 2025, which immediately raises questions about whether the metadata is accurate, whether the videos come from different builds, or whether some of the footage has been edited.
Because of that, none of the following should be considered confirmed GTA VI features.
What the alleged footage appears to show
Viewers analyzing the videos claim to have spotted several possible mechanics, including:
- A basketball mini-game inside the game
- A karma or morality system similar to Red Dead Redemption 2
- Weapon loadouts stored inside vehicle trunks
- Vehicle fuel and maintenance systems
- The return of a six-star wanted level
- NPCs carrying melee weapons
- Stamina being affected during fights
- NPC road-rage encounters
- More advanced police identification based on clothing, appearance or vehicles
- Possible car-key cloning when stealing vehicles
- RDR2-style melee combat and finishing animations
- Greet and taunt interactions with random NPCs
- A navigation system that may work differently when the player is outside a vehicle
Again, these are interpretations of alleged leaked footage, not official Rockstar announcements.
The 2023 Metadata Doesn’t Completely Add Up
The most interesting part of the leak may actually be the conflicting dates.
If one of the videos really contains a song released in 2025, then that footage could be significantly newer than the supposed 2023 metadata suggests.
There are several possible explanations. The metadata could be misleading, the clips could come from different development periods, audio could have been added later because of songs released dates, or the footage itself could have been modified.
Without the original files and confirmation from Rockstar, there is no reliable way to know.
Treat These GTA VI Leaks With Caution
Some of the alleged mechanics sound believable, especially because Rockstar already experimented with similar systems in Red Dead Redemption 2. But believable does not mean confirmed.
Development builds can also contain experimental features that are later changed or completely removed.
For now, these videos are best treated as interesting but unverified GTA VI rumors.
Until Rockstar shows the systems officially, we wouldn’t consider basketball, vehicle fuel, karma, six-star wanted levels, or any of the other reported mechanics confirmed features of GTA VI.
The strange 2023/2025 date discrepancy only gives us another reason to remain skeptical.
We Won’t Have to Wait Long for Official Answers
Rockstar has already announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, which will premiere on August 27, 2026 at 3:00 PM ET on Netflix, followed by Rockstar’s official YouTube release later that day.
GTA VI itself is officially scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
